4.2 Connected Learner

ISTE Standard 4.2 asks coaches to “practice what they preach” by staying up-to-date on best practices in the field and modeling these practices in their professional contexts. Coaches must also think critically about their own work and how they can improve their own coaching practice to best reflect the ISTE standards. Each substandard provides evidence for having met standard 4.2 through written investigations and applied learning.

Standard 4.2 reads: Coaches model the ISTE Standards for Students and the ISTE Standards for Educators, and identify ways to improve their coaching practice.

Coaches:

4.2a Pursue professional learning that deepens expertise in the ISTE Standards in order to serve as a model for educators and leaders.

4.2b Actively participate in professional learning networks to enhance coaching practice and keep current with emerging technology and innovations in pedagogy and the learning sciences.

4.2c Establish shared goals with educators, reflect on successes and continually improve coaching and teaching practice.
